Skokomish Hike

No craftiness going on last weekend....we headed up to the Olympic National Forest and hiked 14 miles roundtrip to Camp Pleasant and hiked 2 additional scenic miles. It felt just like old times putting on my Osprey pack. This time it only weighed around 15 pounds and the weather was unbelievable. Perfect for all that hiking and no rain...yay no rain!!!

Rory joined us and I don't think he's ever hiked in the back country before so he got to experience all the fun aches and pains that come with backpacking.

I am happy to report that I am in better shape than I thought. My legs felt strong and my feet felt the ache, but nothing unbearable like your toenails banging against the roof of your shoe starting the formation of hammer toe! (no, i don't have hammer toe. got rid of those shoes fast!)

Hiking the Skokomish River is good for the soul. The sound of rushing water, a variety of birds, beautiful Cedar trees add to the experience. My favorite parts were when we crossed rivers and creeks and enjoyed a breather while snapping away on my camera.

Father's Day Weekend

lots of good happenings over father's day weekend. started the weekend with an early departure from work, yay! thank you work for giving us a play day while the attorneys go on a retreat. made a trip to the market theater for theatersports comedy. 2 teams of 5 competing in an improv session with 3 judges and an audience full of suggestions. i would recommend for a nice fun outing. lots of good energy. there is also a crazy gum wall that definitely deserves a photo op.

saturday we had such good intentions of going on a day hike to get my legs back in shape, but laziness won out and we kicked it in bed most of the day. christopher said it was a most excellent day and i will have to agree! by 9pm we were ready to roll and headed to thai siam for some pork panang curry and pad thai. christopher ordered his with 3 stars out of 4 and paid the price! his head and hands were sweating, nose running and mouth on fire!

on father's day, christopher's dad came up and we met my dad and family at safeco field for the mariner's game against cinncinati. we won 1-0 and enjoyed a nice cold summer day in seattle! once the game was over, we went thru much deliberation to figure out where to eat and finally made it back to pike place market for dinner at cutter's. with our belly's stuffed, we said our goodbyes and headed home.

Embossing Galore

I got out my Ellison Big Shot and used the texture plates to emboss anything within arm reach. I love how my Maya Road envelopes turned out as well as this big black tag. Once I embossed I used distress inks on the raised images and voila something new and pretty!

Notice that little glimmer. I used Marshmallow Glimmer Mist for a little sparkle treat.

heidi swapp tattered angels irresistable tags using distress inks. i so love these tags and the pre-embossed images on them.
Pink Paislee Artisan Elements. They come completely white and I sprayed with glimmer mist then added more color using my chalk ink.

6.11.10

would you believe i have done something crafty every night this week! i know, i can hardly believe it myself. i got out and dusted my Ellison Big Shot and have been embossing everything on-hand! i only own 3 texture plates, but that will soon change. i have my eye on some tim holtz alterations diecuts, wink wink!

i embossed cardstock, envelopes and tags and i cannot wait to show you. i also added glimmer mist, distress ink, stamped images as well to the embossing. pretty soon i will have enough hand made embellishments that i might start a new mini album.

i have been hanging onto 2 maya road canvas albums and i finally got around to spraying the canvas with glimmer mist. now that they are all sparkly i will figure out exactly what i want to do with them. productivity is all well and good here!

crossing my fingers to photograph by sunday. we are headed south for the weekend for a graduation party. happy friday all!

Crafty Again

I had another good crafting weekend and used up a lot of my glimmer mist on a heidi swapp fascination folder page, pink paislee artisans elements and also made a scrapbook page with distress inks which has been exactly 11 months since i last scrapbooked. Once again I hope to photograph by the weekend.
Christopher's girls celebrated their 7th birthday and I am happy to report they enjoyed their pink birthday cake cards and banner. Now I just need to figure out what I want to get my dad for father's day.
Hope you had a good productive weekend!

5.28.10

My sister and I were talking last night about marriage and relationships and she said the best advice she heard was from a coworker who said no marriage is perfect and if they say their marriage is perfect or they present it as a perfect marriage they are faking it. I definitely agree that relationships take work, open communication and understanding.

Over Memorial Day weekend I spent a good 60 hours with Christopher and we had a total blast. This weekend had been planned for several months and we were counting down the days til May 28th arrived. It started with a hotel room at the Renaissance in downtown Seattle. My coworker won a gift certificate and she wanted cash for it and I wanted a good deal so I did my best to haggle her down. I wanted to use the hotel for the 28th because John Butler Trio performed that night with State Radio and I thought it would be fun to have a mini vacation away from home.

Chilling in our hotel room

If you love guitar I highly suggest listening to John Butler Trio on youtube. He played all my favorite songs and I got to dance the night away with my man. The opening act State Radio also played a good set mixed with rock and reggae. We picked up two t-shirts and stickers to remember this enjoyable evening.
(Us in our new t-shirts taken with my left hand unfortunately i cut christopher's head off, darn my short arm!)

Once we got back to the hotel we realized we totally forgot to eat dinner and ordered the worst steak wrap ever, but you know when you are hungry you'll put anything in your belly. Thankfully breakfast was much much better not only because it was free but it was super fresh. The Renaissance makes a good breakfast I will give them that. We also made sure to utilize the swimming pool and hot tub which I was so looking forward to because I can get these nasty knots in my shoulder from work.

By the time check-out came, we were ready to hit downtown and see Prince of Persia. Good Lord, Jake Gyllenhal has been working out! I thought he did action with a little comedy well.
For lunch, we used 2 Qdoba coupons we were handed off the street a week prior and I am so glad I stuck my hand out instead of ignoring them. 3 mini tacos with a side of beans aint too shabby once you add the word free to them.

Are you tired of reading this yet? Well, Sunday had to be the most lazy Sunday we have ever experienced! I got up once to make smoothies and after that we were in bed until 4pm which is when we thought would be a good time for breakfast/lunch. By 5pm we were out the door and walked 2 blocks up for the biggest free concert in the US. Ok, I have no idea if that is true but I thought I did hear someone say that Folklife Festival in Seattle indeed was. We wandered around for an hour, split an elephant ear, visited the beer garden and listened to a variety of music before heading downtown to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Paramount Theater.

Christopher mentioned how much he liked Fiddler on the Roof that I thought it would be an excellent way to end our weekend. I have to admit I have never seen it so I cheated and went to wikipedia and read the short version so I wouldn't get lost. I will agree that it was an entertaining musical. The lead male had great comical timing. My only problem is sitting for that long tends to drive my feet crazy and I had a bad case of happy feet! What really makes me happy is seeing Christopher enjoying himself and I would look over and see him smile which made me feel really good.

Thanks for a great weekend baby!
